Llewellyn Worldwide sells Flux to North Star Editions

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ST. PAUL, MN, June 30 – Llewellyn Worldwide LTD has agreed to sell its young adult imprint, Flux, to Twin Cities-based North Star Editions, Inc. North Star Editions will take over sales and publishing operations for all existing titles effective July 1, 2016. Under the agreement, Llewellyn Worldwide will continue to handle warehousing and fulfillment duties for Flux titles.

“We are delighted to find such a welcoming home for Flux,” said Sandra Weschcke, President of Llewellyn Worldwide. “We have enjoyed all the Flux authors and titles over the years and we are confident North Star will grow and prosper with Flux. We look forward to a productive relationship.”

“We are excited to be able to continue the wonderful Flux tradition and carry it into this next phase of its life,” said Mari Kesselring, Flux’s new managing editor. “We look forward to the opportunity to engage Flux’s readership with bold new titles for the young-adult fiction audience.”

Llewellyn debuted Flux in 2006 and it quickly became a critically acclaimed and award-winning imprint dedicated to fiction for teens. It was born out of the success of the Blue is for Nightmares series by Laurie Faria Stolarz. The series has sold more than 500,000 copies and carries on in the backlist today.

Since its inception, Flux has set out to be different and diverse. Consistently provocative, independently alternative, and always striving to find unique voices that unsettle, surprise, inform, and ignite.

Through this focus, Flux is proud to have launched the careers of New York Times bestselling authors Laurie Faria Stolarz, Maggie Stiefvater, and Simone Elkeles. Elkeles’s title Return to Paradise made its debut on the New York Times bestseller list. Several other acclaimed YA authors also debuted with Flux including A.S. King and Carrie Jones.

A host of Flux titles have also won awards from the American Library Association, the Independent Publishers Association, and other literary organizations. In 2014 Beautiful Music for Ugly Children by Kirsten Conn-Mills won the National Stonewall Award.
