ST. PAUL, MN, December 1, 2017 – Press Box Books, an imprint distributed by North Star Editions, Inc. (NSE) is excited to announce the April 3, 2018 release of Boston: America’s Best Sports Town, written by Sean McAdam, with a foreword by Pedro Martínez. Boston is a city known for its storied sports heritage and McAdam’s new book delves into the stories behind the triumphs—and occasional setbacks—with colorful storytelling, historic analysis, all-time rankings, and so much more, proving without a doubt that Boston is THE best sports town in America.

More about Boston: America’s Best Sports Town:

Boston first made its name as a sports town in an era when modern sports were just beginning. The city got its first major league baseball team in 1876 — a full 27 years before the first World Series. Twenty years after that, in 1896, the city sent South Boston native James Connolly to Athens, Greece, where he became the first champion of the modern Olympic Games. And the sporting heritage has only grown from there.

Boston: America’s Best Sports Town tells the stories of the teams, the players, the traditions, and the events that have combined to make Boston a unique place in the American sporting landscape.

The history begins with Boston’s four major professional sports teams, each of which has deep roots in its sport and, in recent years, have combined to win an unprecedented 10 championships between 2002 and 2017. Yet the city’s sports legacy goes beyond those teams and their championships. Boston is also a city known for its famous marathon, the esteemed Head of the Charles Regatta, and the annual Beanpot hockey tournament.

And along the way, some of the most iconic names in sports have called Boston home, name like Bill Russell, Larry Bird, Ted Williams, Bobby Orr, Nancy Kerrigan, and Tom Brady. Those athletes have played in some of sports’ iconic theaters, from Boston Gardens to Fenway Park. And they’ve all contributed to help make Boston a sports town that is unlike any other in the United States.
